This module of Roots Essentials Online helps you understand the clear proof that Islam is true. It strengthens your belief, helps you feel the sweetness of faith, and builds a strong connection with Allah ﷻ.
Roots Essentials Online aims to transform the lives of Muslim professionals and university students who are unable to attend in-person courses, through five 10-week online modules with interactive live sessions.
The online format offers flexibility while preserving the interactive nature of in-person sessions. Students can attend from anywhere in the world, either live or via recordings, and will have the opportunity to engage in discussions, activities, and Q&A throughout.
Certification will be awarded upon successful completion of all five modules.

Ustadh Shahin-ur Rahman
Ustadh Shahin-ur Rahman graduated from the Islamic Dawah Academy in Leicester and currently is an instructor at Roots Academy and SiblingsOfIlm, as well as a presenter for IlmFeed. An activist, thinker, educator, and writer.
In 2016, he founded Al-Rahma, a daʿwah organisation based in his hometown of Northampton. He also holds a Master’s degree from the University of Warwick where he studied in the philosophy of education in Islam and the history of its rich educational heritage. Ustadh Shahin previously worked as a curriculum writer for Safar Publications in London.
He is deeply passionate about delivering knowledge in a clear and engaging way, helping students develop a strong grounding in the fundamentals of the Deen and wider Islamic studies.
His teaching style is known for combining clarity, relevance, and spiritual depth, drawing students into reflection and connecting classical knowledge with lived spirituality.

You’re right – our in-person classes are free, and will remain so inshallah. Roots Essentials Online is a brand new course, separate to our in-person classes. You’ll get access to lesson recordings.
Yes, workbooks are available in the UK, Ireland, US, and Australia. Unfortunately, we can’t currently deliver to other countries. Don’t worry though – the workbook isn’t required and you’ll gain just as much by engaging in the lessons and taking your own notes.
