The second module in the Roots Essentials Online journey focuses on Practical Spirituality, or as it is known in Arabic, Tazkiyah — purifying the soul and transforming our inward state to better align with the way of Allah.
Roots Essentials Online aims to transform the lives of Muslim professionals and university students who are unable to attend in-person courses, through five 10-week online modules with interactive live sessions.
The online format offers flexibility while preserving the interactive nature of in-person sessions. Students can attend from anywhere in the world, either live or via recordings, and will have the opportunity to engage in discussions, activities, and Q&A throughout. Certification will be awarded upon successful completion of all five modules.

We want to see a generation of young Muslims who embody and promote a God-centred way of life.
And so our mission is to deliver a structured and transformative education in the Essentials of Islam in a way that lowers barriers to access, develops a deep certainty, and inspires action.
We achieve this through:
Employing our unique Roots teaching method, we guide students to absorb the information, engage in reflection, and ultimately apply the knowledge in their lives.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
Do you not see how Allah compares a good word to a good tree? Its root is firm and its branches reach the sky. [14:24]
Allah likens the faith of a believer to a tree that is deeply rooted in the ground, and its fruit and branches are far reaching.
Our goal is to strengthen your foundations, allowing you to reap the abundant fruits of this tree of faith.
Our flagship Essentials Programme is a 5-module, transformative educational program designed to bring Muslims closer to their creator. Each module re-packages fard ‘ayn (individually obligatory) knowledge in a way that provokes deep reflection and a transformation in both the mindset and behaviour of students.
The five modules are:

Each module focuses on deepening certainty, reflection and action.
